I am glad the car collecting hobby is not as snobby as the watch collecting hobby. Car collectors are always glad to have their cars photographed and they delight when their cars are featured in some publication. Not watch collectors.
The watch collector is jealous, suspicious, cunning and always has to think what they have is the best of the best of the best. How dare you take a picture of MY watch? Who cares? It is just a stupid worthless watch that is not going to change your way of life if someone takes a stupid picture of it.
The law is very specific on taking pictures of people in public. Doing so violates nothing. There are a few exceptions such if you were to use a photograph of someone to endorse a product without their permission. See case law as it relates to using pictures of a movie star or other public personality and improper associations.
But God help those that might take a picture of some crummy watch, rare or not, and all hell breaks lose. How dare you take a picture of My watch?
Next time you go on vacation, don't take a picture of the Statue of Liberty, you might piss off the entire country. Stay away from Mount Rushmore, the distant relatives of the depicted might get pissed that you took their picture.
GROW UP! If you don't want pictures taken of your watches, fine. Hide them away and shut the F*** Up about it. Who cares anyway?
Not me. Act like adults. This is supposed to be a fun hobby, but someone always has to make something of nothing. Keep stirring the pot and ruin it for everyone.
I use a lot of pictures from tons of places. Doing so provides whomever with some extra knowledge about watches, and that is nice. They can read about them and best of all see them. Who knows, this might help someone make the mistake of collecting watches.
Born In Sin, COME ON IN! Who would want to live in the hell of watch collecting anyway?
