Here is an interesting Rolex Submariner dial that just sold on eBay. The text of the auction is listed below. The dial alone sold for $10650.00.
Makes for a very expensive Rolex Submariner.
Up for auction is an original "meters first" Rolex dial for a stainless steel Red Submariner model 1680 from the late 1960s. Fits caliber 1570, non-quickset movement. In some light the dial looks a deep brown color but at other times it looks black. It is hard to show this in photographs so I have included many different angles and light sources. The dial is the 200m first type for watches made early in the 1680 production run. It is a so called tropical or indi brown color change dial. Nothing has been repainted, but it looks like the luminous may have been reapplied to the markers.
