Pocket watch cases are a thing of beauty. Originally designed simply to house a watch movement and protect it from the outside environment, they moved from simple to elaborate.
Ornate engravings were applied to both gold filled cases and to cases made using precious metals. It is not uncommon to find very ornate solid gold cases that housed only a 7 jewel movement. Plain cases sometimes contained movement in excess of 21 jewels.
Many cases were adorned with horses, bridges, houses and boats. Many contained diamonds, rubies and sapphires set into hunter style cases.
This forum is for all of us to share in the beauty of these cases. Photos are always welcome.
And don't forget, if you have a question about your case, just ask. We might just have an answer. So post a new topic and lets talk cases.
